Matthew Lee is an instrumental rock guitarist, music based on punk rock, sentimental music, metal and classical music. He played the piano since 5 years and got a grade 8 at 15 years of age. At 13 years old he was introduced to drums, violin and guitar at age 17. Out of all the instruments he played he was most fascinated by the guitar, especially the electric guitar. He thought if only classical music could be played on guitar with distortion. Then you’ll get classical music with a modern flavor to it. Well that’s what he thought so he took his piano books, violin books and transcribe it on the electric guitar. From then on he improved his skills and carried on to play instrumental rock songs by satriani, addy cradle, eric johnson, etc.. During his multimedia studies, he learnt about recording and mixing. With that knowledge he produced his 1st album (Constellations) with his band (Big Stars 24). A year later, he went on to produce his 2^nd album which is a electric guitar instrumental rock album, Strawberry Vanilla (https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/strawberry-vanilla/id611238527). Most of the recordings and all of the mixing were done in his home studio( http://www.facebook.com/mlstoodio ) and some were done in his friend’s house and studio ( http://www.facebook.com/FlutterSound ). Matthew has many performance experiences too. He played keyboard with a band called Quasimodo at the esplanade waterfront. For guitar he played at the open mic in pump room, open mic at singapore arts museum ( It’s a collaboration between Singapore arts museum, Singapore arts cafe and power 98), open mic at ignite cafe with his duo (Big Stars 24), played with a power metal band Tyrantula at arts house playden, played solo instrumental rock at crawlspace, blackhole, outside cineleisure orchard, Scape ( Mascot parade event) and his latest gig with 1 of his bands in 3 cities in India. He’s also a member of the Composers and authors society of Singapore (COMPASS)
